The Commercial Property team at
Taylors, the North West commercial
law firm, has acted for its
longstanding client, Globaltex
Limited, in a property purchase to
extend its business premises.
The family-run business, which
trades as Clarke & Clarke, designs
and distributes high quality fabrics
and wallcoverings and is
internationally recognised as one of
the leaders in the world of home
fashion. Its designs regularly
appear in home furnishing features
in the press and in lifestyle
magazines and editorials, including
Country Living, Ideal Home and
Country Homes & Interiors.
The company's recent property
purchase and acquisition of the
freehold of its existing premises
and the adjoining unit at The
Madison Centre in Haslingden comes
as a result of an expansion of the
business following increasing
demands for its products.
Lee Clarke, Managing Director of
Globaltex, commented, "The
additional premises will allow us to
service our customers quickly and
efficiently. We will also be
improving our systems by installing
specialised textile machinery,
updating our software systems and
radically changing the way we
logistically operate, as well as
increasing our staffing levels to
allow us to cope comfortably with
the growth”.
“By purchasing the adjoining
unit, we can now confidently take on
the additional orders from our
customers and ensure that Clarke &
Clarke is well equipped to meet the
demands put on the business both in
the short and long term”.
Colette Johnson of Taylors
Solicitors, said, "We were delighted
to work with Lee on this transaction
and to help support the company's
growth. It is genuinely pleasing to
see a local based family-run
manufacturing business thriving in
its sector and we wish them every
success for their continued growth".
"Taylors has acted for Globaltex
for a number of years; the firm's
specialisms are not only in working
closely with owner-managed
businesses, but also those trading
in the manufacturing and textiles
sectors; so the firm is perfectly
placed to support the Globaltex
team".
Philippa Moors, Relationship
Director at Barclays Corporate Bank
in Manchester, who funded the
transaction, commented, “Globaltex
is a longstanding client of Barclays
and we are continually impressed by
the business and the increasing
popularity of their brand, Clarke &
Clarke”.
“The funding from Barclays
allowed the property purchase to
take place under the Funding for
Lending Scheme thus reducing the
cost of the loan to the business”.
Tony Totham, Partner at Hayes &
Co Chartered Accountants in
Blackburn, said, “We have worked
with Lee since the business was
established and are delighted to see
the continued growth and development
of the business leading up to the
need for the new premises. We are
pleased to work closely with Lee on
both this project and with the
further development of his
business”.
