With expert speakers on key topical issues, The Business Exchange, is a forum for business owners and senior managers which provides insight, knowledge and practical advice to help manage your business and deal with the challenges you face in the tough commercial world.
The event will look at your business' Intellectual Property; from the importance of protecting the copyright and design of your core product, to safeguarding the valuable knowledge and expertise held in your employees.
The keynote speaker will be Tony Catterall, Senior Partner at Taylors. Tony heads up the Intellectual Property department at Taylors which is recognised nationally and internationally for its expertise and experience in protecting and enforcing the rights of designers, particularly in the manufacturing and software sectors. The team has won many notable and key cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court against major corporates and Taylors is the only North West-based firm to be appointed as a Legal Affiliate to the national organisation, Anti Copying in Design (ACID).
Tony will give his insight into the fundamentals of IP law and through sharing studies of his own and other leading cases, will demonstrate what can happen when things go wrong and give you practical advice to make sure your business and its IP are fully protected.
Emma Swan, Employment Partner, will explain the importance of protecting the knowledge and expertise held by your employees, as well as protecting your position when these employees decide to move on, and will give you advice and guidance that you will find invaluable to your business.
There will also be the opportunity to meet and network with other business owners and managers and to ask Tony and Emma any questions you may have on the topic in relation to your business either during the Q&A session or following the event.
