Following the success of The HR Exchange in Lancashire and Manchester over the last five years, the networking and training event is being brought to Wigan.
The HR Exchange provides a free to attend breakfast forum for HR professionals, business owners and managers to meet up and network, while also keeping up to speed with HR best practice and the latest employment law issues affecting business.
The first event, takes place at Ashfield House on Thursday 16th June, and one of the UK’s leading health experts has been lined up to speak about managing sickness absence in their businesses.
Dr Karen Nightingale of Occupational Health Medical, who has worked with some of the UK’s leading businesses including, Allied Bakeries, The British Transport Police and Muller UK, will deliver an engaging and informative presentation, which is sure to lead to plenty of interesting discussion and questions from the delegates.
She said: “One of my main aims will be to offer practical guidance for employers who are trying to manage sickness absence. I’ll be highlighting a range of sickness issues and specific medical conditions employers regularly come across, as well as others that are not so commonplace.”
Peter Byrne, a Partner at Taylor Solicitors and head of their Employment Law team will put the spotlight on key legal aspects employers need to keep in mind when dealing with employee sickness absence and implementing relevant policies and procedures.
Peter said: “It’s a complex area and employers need practical and clear advice so I will look at how they can create and use an effective and legal sickness absence policy.”
The Taylors’ team will then round off the event with an update of the most recent changes to employment law.
