Our construction team, headed by Partner, Chris
Scott, has an established reputation for ensuring that
documentation is right first time and for pursuing disputes
to successful conclusions should the need arise. Chris has
over 20 years of experience in construction work. He has
in-depth experience of diverse, large value and complex
litigation matters in the County Court, High Court,
Technology and Construction Court, Commercial Arbitration,
Adjudication and Tribunal.
Chris has particular expertise in acting for businesses
in the construction industry, advising on a wide range of
issues from contracts, adjudication, employee issues and
insolvency and has acted for insurers including Norwich
Union, QBE and Lloyds Syndicates. He therefore understands
first hand the problems which can arise.
We fully appreciate the commercial requirements and
realities and above all our aim is to provide a pragmatic
and specialist service dealing with all aspects of
construction work for property developers, contractors,
consultants, funders, purchasers and tenants. Our client
base includes employers, contractors, sub-contractors,
designers and occupiers who receive prompt and practical
advice about their construction and engineering projects,
ranging from minor works to PFI and PPP. Chris’ reputation
is built upon a sound, realistic and commercial background.

Profile
Born in the North East, Chris now lives in
Preston with his wife and two children, where he has
spent most of his career. A keen football fan, Chris
holds a Sunderland FC season ticket and makes a
point of watching as many of their games as his work
commitments allow. He joined Taylors in 2011 from
DWF LLP’s Construction and Engineering Division of
their Real Estate Practice, after spending 5 years
building Preston and Manchester based Ricksons,
which merged with DWF LLP in 2007.

- What was your first job?
Excluding the compulsory paper round (which everyone
did in my era) I worked in the warehouse for the Co-op.
- What do you do at weekends?
Watch the kids do sport, watch the Mrs spend our
money,
watch Sunderland AFC or any other football going and
spend time in the Lake District
- What was the first record you ever bought?
Tokoloshie Man by John Kongos
- Who’s your hero and why?
If I have/had one, it would be my Grandad - boy
soldier, Jarrow marcher, mayor, alderman freeman, MP. He
loved a good argument, family gatherings (men only) in
his front room every Sunday

Just finished a novel about the Mogul Empire

A digital radio and a dozen crates of Champagne (all
on one pallet) or if not, Sky TV
- If a movie was being made about your life, which
actor would play you? Sean Bean- he’d need to change
his accent though
